Narain could race for Williams in 2006

While Jordan, now christened Midland, is unlikely to retain him, Williams could be the new home for India's Narain Karthikeyan in the next Formula One season.

Struggling with limited financial resource, Team boss Frank Williams hinted the team might go for hiring a 'pay driver' for its test and reserve positions and it is widely believed that Karthikeyan is one of the three drivers -- Dutch duo Christijan Albers and Robert Doornbos being the other two -- who would be considered for the next season.

On Tuesday, Williams announced his plans to run a third car on Fridays in 2006.

''Life as a truly independent team is materially different now'' Williams told Autosport-Atlas.

''We've no sugar daddy to fall back on, not that we really ever did, but BMW did give us the engine free, and free cars, and all of that does make a difference to one's budget.'' Meanwhile, after Jordan's new name Midland was accepted by the F1 Commission on Monday, the team announced that Nicky Pastorelli would be the team's Friday driver in 2006.

While both Karthikeyan and his Portuguese team mate Tiago Monteiro are not likely to be retained, Midland would consider Anthony Davidson, Takuma Sato and Albers for the 2006 driver lineup.

As far as i know Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber will be racing for Williams in 2006! dunno, where u got this info...

Narain is a waste of time and money. He may be an Indian, but as i have heard before,F1 is not united Nations! He has nothing to show so far to prove that he is worth to be in F1. Totally uninspired driving (incl. Indy), maybe WRC will look upon him kindly after his adventures of late. even his previous non F1 ventures have been non successful. Except for TATA and JK money, am sure he wudnt even have got a chance in Jordan 2005.

Williams, a formidable team till last season may have got it wrong in 2005 but to stoop so low to accept a non-existing talent as Narain is simply unimaginable!

all imho.

This article is from www.rediff.com.

But I also read in official website of formula1 www.formula1.com that, Williams is looking for paying driver. May be this article is based on that comment.

As you know, BMW is backing off from Williams and starting a new team next season. Williams has acknowledged and thanked BMW for providing cars and engines at free of cost.

Now its finanicial crisis as BMW leaves.
About Narains talents, yes he needs to improve alot.
